About the Association
The Canadian Association of Chinese Reporters (CACR), established in October 2016 in Toronto, is a federally registered non-profit organization in Canada. Its members include institutional and individual members—namely, Chinese-language media organizations legally established in Canada and Chinese-language journalists working in Canadian media—distributed across multiple provinces from coast to coast.
CACR strives to unite Chinese-language media and journalists in Canada, safeguard their legitimate rights and interests, advance professional development in journalism and media innovation, and foster exchanges and cooperation with Chinese and international news communities, thereby providing members with platforms for communication, collaboration, and shared growth.
Rooted in Canada’s multicultural society, CACR focuses on public affairs, community development, and issues pertinent to the Chinese-Canadian community. Through news reporting, industry exchanges, and cultural activities, it delivers information services to overseas Chinese and promotes their participation in local society, enhancing inter-ethnic communication and mutual understanding.
CACR actively advances the inheritance and dissemination of Chinese culture, serving as a bridge for cultural exchange and people-to-people engagement between China and Canada, and deepening mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of both countries.
In response to ongoing transformations in the media industry and communication methods, CACR encourages members to strengthen exchanges between traditional and new media, explore innovative content creation and multi-platform distribution, prioritize youth journalist training, and continuously enhance the professional capabilities and community service standards of Chinese-language media.
